Carry on the conference momentum with BinderCon


BinderCon, the conference for women and gender variant writers, will be at UCLA on April 1 and 2. Programming includes workshops on self-care and activism and writing disabled characters, panels on progressive publishing models and life after launching a book, and speed pitching with literary agents, book editors, and magazine editors. MAGGIE Awards: Deadline Jan. 20 for publishing competition

Can you believe it’ll be 66 years? The MAGGIE Awards from the Western Publishing Association (WPA) is looking to honor the “The Best in the West” in a wide variety of publishing categories.

The 2016 winners included periodicals such as Recoil, Orange Coast and Sonoma, as well as standout articles such as “The War on Sex Trafficking is the New War on Drugs” (Reason), “Gone Hiking” (Backpacker) and “How to Sail Off Into the Sunset” (Coast).
